My girl scout troop made me ring bells for these people.

I RANG THEIR BELLS.

I hung out with a homeless alcoholic for a night many years ago.  I started talking to him at Jack in the Box in Pasadena,CA.  I bought him dinner and so on and a new blanket.  I asked him what about Salvation Army.  That guy had so much venom to spew about them that I could never donate to them again.  

One of the other statements on their page is a statement against religious persecution.  The thing is they will refuse to help you even if you are Christian, but refuse to believe in their particular interpretations.  Oh and if you are anything else have fun with your current situation and eternal damnation.

Another concerns alcohol.  They believe that alcohol is a gateway to sin and the consumption of harder drugs.  They require total abstinence from the moment you accept help from them.  This of course presents problems for homeless who are addicted to alcohol or drugs.  Many of them want to quit, but know all too well the consequences of withdrawal.  Is a bed and some food worth the price of a week of agony?
